RECYCLING MEDIA

A collaborative project in progress with Simon Hessler looking at the idea of transforming / re-cycling media. Experimenting with making our own machines to create the outcome.

Example of our process
A (original, e.g book) - B (poster from the book) - C (film from the poster) - A (book from the film)

Throughout the process we constructed many home-made machines and processes to explore this concept of transforming.

For this project we ended up transforming original forms of art back into art using the same medium. We did this by having the original, digitalising it (scanning into computer), converting the image now into code and the computer reading the code, then finally the medium was hanging above a speaker. The outcome is made by the vibrations on the speaker from the code being read out.

We used a variety of art such as Gustav Klimt, Picasso, Karl Lagerfeld, Richard Rogers, Piet Mondrian and Jackson Pollock.
We also designed a poster and catalogue to go alongside the final prints.
