INTERPRETING SPACE
My self-initiated project, looking into how I interpret and experience space.
Starting by isolating myself in my room for 48 hours without any technology I documented my experiences. I reflected upon these experiences and then experimented with my findings and realised my main fascinations were with sound and light.
This led on to the correlation between sound and light having a relation with waves.
I created coloured grids representing everyday sounds within familiar spaces. These were then transferred back into sounds from the colour - pitch relationship which I discovered. I re-created this space using these sounds in an orchestral style as links between the sound locations and the purpose of creating an atmosphere within a space were my main factors.
Interpreting the kitchen over 48 hours I used 8 familiar sounds played using a metal musicbox.
More to come soon, including images.
